Salford Zine Library

On going to the Salford zine library, I chose to focus on zines that would be in the same style as the one as my group is looking to produce. I also chose zines that had a element of illustration on the cover, I chose to focus primarily on the cover because of the vast amount of zines that were in the place I wanted to see which ones were the most appealing in grabbing peoples attention. I felt that the most interesting zines were the milk, two sugars one, and also the ones that had a 3 dimensional element on the front which made the piece more appealing. I also liked the one I think titled, Preston is my 15, due to the polaroid on the front made the piece more interesting and gave it a different texture. Texture was another element I was looking at due to I wanted to explore the different paper stocks and different card the images are printed on that make the piece more interesting as the paper is on a wide variety of stocks so makes elements of the work stand out.
On a final note I chose to look at the ways in which the books are bound and presented from the idea of fold outs or plastic wallets that make the piece more stylized and unique which would attract people to the work and crate a different ethos in the work.
